Compressed earth block building construction begins with the most basic of ingredients: sand, clay, silt, water, and gravel. While the ingredients themselves are basic and simple, the engineering behind the soil profile is an important element for success. Not just any soil will do.

Once the soil has been properly engineered, it is further mixed with a soil stabilizer blend that is specifically designed for our engineered soil. This gives us a high degree of quality control over the finished product. The process of taking low technology, simple materials and converting them into the building blocks for modern, high performance buildings is even more remarkable given the very low carbon footprint of the process.

The Urban Earth team manufactures CEBs for upcoming projects.

Our blocks and wall assembly technique have been tested to a minimum two hour fire rating according to the ASTM E119 standard. Details are available upon request.

The quality control process employed by Urban Earth yields crisp, evenly mixed, and properly stabilized compressed earth blocks that regularly text at up to 4 times the compressive strength required by the IBC 2012 standard.
